Two committees of the Kansas Legislature will be reviewing budget issues this week.
Both panels also plan to examine the $259 million in adjustments made last month by Gov. Mark Parkinson. The moves are intended to prevent the state from having a deficit when the current fiscal year ends June 30.
The Senate Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to convene Tuesday to take testimony from the heads of six agencies, as well as the state's budget director Duane Goossen.
The Joint Committee on Health Policy Oversight has a meeting set for Thursday. That committee plans to focus on how Parkinson's adjustments affect state agencies providing medical coverage and services to the needy, disabled and elderly.
