From the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL), September 01, 2011
NCIL has been the leader in the Disability Rights Movement for decades because of our grassroots mobilization! Now we need you to come to Washington, D.C. and tell Congress what changes to Medicaid would means to actual people, families and our community! We must put a face to the cause!
We need you to tell Congress and the public your stories of how Medicaid provides you and your family with vital home and community-based services. We need children and young adults with disabilities to show that Medicaid provides real supports that assist us in being educated and included in the community. We need you to show them how Medicaid provides vital jobs for direct care workers.
The My Medicaid Matters Rally will be in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, September 21, 2011!
We need you to come to D.C. and tell your personal story to your representatives and to the Super Committee of 12! The Super Committee is a Joint Select Committee (House and Senate) comprised of six Democrats and six Republicans. The party leadership has appointed the members of the committee, who will be responsible for producing a new bill to address deficit concerns by November 23. The House and Senate must vote on this bill, with no amendments, by December 23.
NCIL is doing three things:
We want Congress to hear your voices and stories in the hallways, in their offices and on the stage at the rally! Your presence is critical to the fight for independent living. NCIL has always created change through grassroots mobilization and this fight is no different! Come and join us here in the Nation’s Capitol and tell your story about how Medicaid keeps you an active and essential part of the community!
You can make a difference! Come to Washington, D.C to the My Medicaid Matters Rally on September 21, 2011 from 12:00pm – 4:00pm! For more information on the My Medicaid Rally, visit www.ncil.org.
