Community Action has a limited number of free Topeka Transit bus passes for the month of February 2011(both fixed route and LIFT riders may apply). Passes will be available starting Monday, January 31, 2011.
To qualify, applicants must be 18 years of age or older and depend on public transportation to travel to and from their employment, vocational training site or medical appointment; or are job searching. In addition, applicants must meet income guidelines set at or below 125% of the federal income guidelines (examples: single, $13,613; family of 2, $18,388; family of 3, $23,163; family of 4, $27,938). This program is made possible by the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation and the Community Services Block Grant.
Because of limited supply, applicants are encouraged to call Community Action's Swygart Center at 235-9296 to check on availability. All applicants will be required to provide proof of current employment or vocational training, household income for the past 90 days, and Social Security numbers of all household members. Applicants must also complete the agency Consumer Intake Form and show a picture ID.
